CCAE Mission

The mission of the California Council for Adult Education is to take a leadership role in promoting adult education, providing professional development, and effecting change  to best serve the needs and interests of adult education, the CCAE membership and the people of California.

More than 3,000 members strong, the California Council for Adult Education is the largest professional organization serving adult education in California. CCAE is split into six geographic sections throughout California. Three are in the Northern and Central portions, and three in the Southern part of the state.

Adult education serves diverse populations of students throughout the state of California.  Adult education provides learners with an opportunity to earn their high school diploma or GED, learn English, improve skills, learn new skills, and advance at their place of employment - usually with little or no cost to the student.  Adults are able to re-examine their goals and take positive steps toward making better lives for themselves and their families.  Adult education and the people who work in adult ed. change lives - for the better!
